Creating a presentation


Your webinar success will largely be determined by the contents of your presentation. In order to create a new presentation, we recommend using the software choices below. For Windows users this will usually be PowerPoint and for Apple users this will be Keynote.


Create a PowerPoint presentation

It’s important to format the presentation using widescreen, which is the aspect ratio 16:9. Because the live webinar is being broadcasted in widescreen mode, the slides will fill the entire screen this way. Make sure to set the correct aspect ratio before formatting your presentation.

  1. Go to “Design” and choose “Slide size”.
  2. Select "Widescreen (16:9)" when you haven’t done so already.

Exporting slides from PowerPoint

  1. Open PowerPoint and choose "File" > "Save as" > Select the location where the slides should be saved.
  2. Next, click on the arrow on the right to open the drop down menu and choose "Portable Network Graphics-format (*.png)" and click "Save".
  3. You’ll now get the question "Which slides would you like to export?". Choose "All slides", the slides will be numbered and placed in a folder.

  1. Open PowerPoint and choose "File" > "Save as" > Select the location where the slides should be saved.
  2. Next, click on the arrow on the right to open the drop down menu, choose "PDF (*.pdf)" and click "Save".

Creating a presentation in Keynote

It’s important to format the presentation using widescreen, which is the aspect ratio 16:9. Because the live webinar is being broadcasted in widescreen mode, the slides will fill the entire screen this way. Make sure to set the correct aspect ratio before formatting your presentation.

  1. Click on "Document" in the upper right corner.
  2. For "Slide size" choose "Widescreen (16:9)”, in case you didn’t already do this.

Exporting slides from Keynote

Open the presentation and choose "Archive" > "Export to" > images (from the Archive-menu near the top of the screen).

Saving Keynote as PDF file

Open the presentation and choose "Archive" > "Export to" > PDF (from the Archive-menu near the top of the screen).

Creating a presentation in Canva

It’s important to format the presentation using widescreen, which is the aspect ratio 16:9. Because the live webinar is being broadcasted in widescreen mode, the slides will fill the entire screen this way.

Select in Canva: Presentation 1920 x 1080 px

Exporting slides from Canva

  1. Open your presentation in Canva
  2. Click on the download icon on the upper right
  3. Select as file format: PNG or JPG
  4. Click on 'Download'

Saving Canva as PDF file

  1. Open your presentation in Canva
  2. Click on the download icon on the upper right
  3. Select as file format: PDF
  4. Click on 'Download'

Other software

Working with a different type of presentation software from the ones detailed above? Feel free to use one of the following steps:

  1. Save the presentation as a PDF file and upload it into your webinar.
  2. Save the presentation as separate images (.png or .jpg) and upload these into your webinar.
  3. Share your presentation using "Screen sharing", make sure to practice a bit with this functionality beforehand.
