Zoetermeer, May 9th, 2017 – WebinarGeek, the first Dutch webinar platform for small business owners, introduces webinars with real time video streaming based on WebRTC. This is a protocol for real-time communication between two browsers. The technology was created by Google and the development is being coordinated by a commission of W3C web standards. WebinarGeek implemented and applied WebRTC to their webinar platform. This paved the way for a lot of one-to-many communication, allowing people to give webinars for a large number of participants. The new technique requires fewer bandwidth to broadcast a stable HD-stream. Any laptop or computer can therefore be used to host a professional webinar without having to rent out a professional recording studio. The startup received an investment from StartCapital Partners, who in turn used the RVO Seed Capital Regulation from the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs.
WebRTC
WebinarGeek was founded by Remco Treuren, with the mindset that technology can never be a limitation for business owners to start using webinars. “Our main challenge for launching the improved webinar platform, was mainly allowing people to use the one-on-many communication based on WebRTC. We succeeded in that. Starting today, you can use WebinarGeek to go live with just two clicks of a button, and give a webinar to hundreds of people at the same time through the stable WebRTC-technique. Individual viewer behavior can be analyzed thoroughly: watchtime, the type of questions being asked, answers to polls, and which links are being clicked (such as special offers). This information can be used to set up targeted follow up actions and convert those hot leads into sales,” Remco Treuren explains. With the English version of the platform, Treuren wants to enter the competitive international webinar market as soon as this year.
Marketing trends
In the top 5 of the most effective content marketing trends in 2015, giving webinars ended in second place with 66%. Remco Treuren, founder of WebinarGeek, noticed a big increase in webinar use over the past two years. “More business owners use webinars and will also incorporate them into their marketing strategies. Since launching the first version of WebinarGeek, we saw the number of users and webinars rise with an impressive 300% growth rate. At first, the early adopters were knowledge-based entrepreneurs and business coaches that started using webinars to increase their online visibility and create a new type of sales channel. Today, webinars are being used in all kinds of industries for communicating with clients and employees. I strongly believe that webinars, the number 1 on the list of the most effective content marketing trend, has surpassed the popularity of videos (68%) by a large margin.”
